Summary
Rehabilitation centers may, if they wish, submit a request for telerehabilitation services to AVIQ.
Tele-rehabilitation is provided through remote services.
A “remote service” is an intervention that requires the use of information and communication technologies and/or telephony between a patient and a healthcare provider. To conduct the remote rehabilitation session, various technologies may be used: telephone, with or without a camera; computer, with or without a camera (chat, videoconferencing applications, online platforms, social media, etc.).
A “hybrid” remote service is a rehabilitation session that takes place partly in person with the patient and partly remotely. It must be at least as long as a “standard” session as defined in the agreement.
Key points
- The types of services accepted under telerehabilitation are defined in AVIQ Circular 2023/CTR/2024 or any updates thereto.
- Tele-rehabilitation services are billable at the same rate as in-person services. However, specific codes for tele-rehabilitation must be used for these services.
- Tele-rehabilitation services must be entered into the attendance registry using the appropriate coding
In detail
Rehabilitation centers.
This includes:
- outpatient centers;
- centers offering both residential and outpatient services (mixed agreements).
For centers with mixed functions, only outpatient services are eligible.
To be able to offer telerehabilitation services, the center must:
- Request approval from the AVIQ by completing a sworn statement in which the provider commits to complying with the guidelines for telerehabilitation (prescriptions, objectives, and therapeutic conditions);
- Submit to the AVIQ a quality charter, developed in consultation with the therapeutic staff, and based at a minimum on the proposals included in the form. The AVIQ provides a template if needed.
Applications must be submitted by email, in PDF format to the following address: revalidation@aviq.be .
AVIQ will acknowledge receipt of this request and will send, by email to the center:
- The monitoring file (a log detailing the remote services provided monthly by the center)
- Attendance Log
- An Excel file containing information on the services the center can provide via telerehabilitation (pseudo-code, price, type of service, etc.).
- An instruction manual for entering data
The center must then integrate these services into its Access software, which is used to enter rehabilitation services.
