Summary
At the only higher education institution in the German-speaking Community, the Autonome Hochschule Ostbelgien (AHS), Bachelor's degree programs are offered in the fields of educational sciences, health and nursing sciences as well as finance and administrative sciences and will be supplemented by a Bachelor's degree in social work from the 2024-2025 academic year.

The German-speaking Community does not offer its own higher education programmes of long duration or establish universities. Traditionally, most students from the German-speaking Community complete their studies at higher education institutions and universities in the other two Belgian communities, but now also increasingly in the neighbouring Federal Republic of Germany.
