Registration is the first step toward operating a tourist accommodation in the German-speaking Community (Ostbelgien).
To do this, the Ministry first needs your contact information and the key details about your accommodation: location, capacity, and the category to which you assign your accommodation.
Every accommodation must fall into one of the following categories:
Hotel
Bed & Breakfast (guest rooms with breakfast available)
Vacation apartment/vacation home
Campground
Group accommodation
Seasonal accommodation

You will receive a provisional European registration number that you can use to advertise your accommodation on booking platforms.
Your registration will not be complete until all the necessary documents have been submitted.
In detail
If you offer accommodations in the German-speaking Community (Ostbelgien) on the tourism market, you must register those accommodations with the German-Speaking Community.
Once you register, you will receive a European registration number that you can use to promote your property on booking platforms.
If you offer lodging in East Belgium on the tourism market:
You must register this lodging with the German-Speaking Community. You can do this online or by filling out a form. You will then receive your registration number.
You need a safety certificate for this lodging. You can apply for this at the municipality where your lodging is located.
The tourist lodging must be clean and well-maintained.
You must have liability insurance for yourself, your employees, and any family members assisting you.
You must submit a criminal record check.
You must provide proof of ownership or the owner’s consent.
If the operating conditions for registration are not met within a reasonable period of time, the German-Speaking Community may revoke the registration number and impose administrative penalties.
Specific minimum criteria apply to each accommodation category (hotel, bed and breakfast, vacation rentals, etc.), which are verified on-site during an inspection. See Useful links.
