Applying for a Birth Grant in Wallonia

Summary

The birth grant is a one-time payment made upon the child’s birth.

The child’s place of residence determines which region is responsible for paying their child benefits.

The birth grant is paid into the bank account of the child’s mother, which is provided when registering with the family allowance fund of her choice.

Special circumstances may arise. In such cases, please contact the family allowance fund you have freely chosen.

Key points

A birth grant is a one-time payment made at the time of birth. In contrast, child benefits are payments made each month based on your actual circumstances.

This grant is not awarded automatically; you must apply for it in advance with the child benefits office.

Parents can submit their application for the bonus starting from the end of the sixth month of pregnancy.

You are free to choose which fund to use.
